Audiology for Children - On Site
The VOC maintains a fully-equipped audiological suite including a booth for audiological testing. Our full time pediatric audiologist regularly monitors each student’s hearing status, listening device and provides on-going consultation for children and families during their school years at the VOC.
A full range of audiological services are available including:
- Complete hearing assessments for infants and children
- Troubleshooting of cochlear implants and amplification, cochlear implant equipment, cochlear implant mapping and cochlear implant progress assessments
- Hearing aid selection and fitting including helping children and parents learn about the effective use of amplification and communication strategies
- Consultation and collaboration with other professionals to meet your needs
- Audiological consultation to early prevention programmes and our independent school partners
- Ongoing evaluation of the child’s hearing and regular monitoring of the child’s amplification
- Parent guidance and education
Electro-acoustical evaluation to determine that hearing aids are:
- Functioning to manufacturer’s specifications
- Monitoring middle ear function
